One of the problems with this mode of communication is that it’s difficult for people to really *discuss* anything. I talk over here, but few people see, for example, Dick Cornell’s comment on my Report from the Floor. To be “in the loop” you need to have an aggregator that keeps up with those people you want to listen to.

We passed the gavel today. Patty Gilbert is President, Vance Durrington is President-Elect, and I’m stepping back to Past-President.
Several items came from the Board meeting on Wednesday, not the least of which was a nice collection of short term goals. I’m sure Patty will be in touch soon with details but the highlights are the monthly conference call, the mentor pool initiative, the revitalizaion of the Crystal Awards, and the formation of a strategic vision task force for the division.

I’m back from the in-law’s and finally got to the bottom of my inbox. It’s so humbling to come back to that HUGE pile of spam.
Lately I’ve been talking to some various folks about appropriate research on DE. There seems to be the recurring interest in comparing Distance to Classroom re-surfacing … As my friend called it, “deficit model of DE” — what can we do to DE to “fix it” so it’s more like the classroom?

We just need some good candidates to run for president of the division. You don’t need to be of heroic stature. You don’t need to have special qualifications. You don’t need to have experience, really, altho having a grasp of political organization is probably a help ![]()
