i too, cringe when i hear someone talk about digital natives and immigrants. lets face it - technology is not new. it has helped civilisations live and work for millenia. even in its new guise, modern technologies such as the web, google and ipods are very established. they are not foreign, so why do people persist on branding users as natives or immigrants?

I have been contemplating a post on this very same issue. I cannot think of anything MORE ANNOYING than the ridiculous drivel about natives and immigrants. TECHNOLOGY is not a culture, first of all. It is a tool used by humans and can certainly influence culture, but by itself, no. Thanks for sharing my pain.
